Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Video
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Video

Construction Helix Video
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Video
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options sound right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Video
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Video
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
