Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Versus Saatva Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Versus Saatva Mattress

Construction Helix Versus Saatva Mattress
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Versus Saatva Mattress
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Versus Saatva Mattress
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Versus Saatva Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
