Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Versus Oceano
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Versus Oceano

Construction Helix Versus Oceano
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Versus Oceano
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you could always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Versus Oceano
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Versus Oceano
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Versus Oceano
If you’re shopping for a mattress and aren’t quite sure what feel that you require, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system might be the key to finding your best sleep with little hassle. Their awesome system, which is based on expert opinions and AI, was designed to better their customer’s sleep by offering a better match. Helix Versus Oceano
The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to deliver options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, if you needed one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should provide good edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
