Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Tribe
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Tribe

Construction Helix Tribe
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Tribe
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you can always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Tribe
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Tribe
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
