Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Toronto
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Toronto

Construction Helix Toronto
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Toronto
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Toronto
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Toronto
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
