Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Tile
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Tile

Construction Helix Tile
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Tile
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Tile
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Tile
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
