Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Soft Topper
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Soft Topper

Construction Helix Soft Topper
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Soft Topper
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Soft Topper
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Soft Topper
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
