Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep

Construction Helix Sleep
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
