Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Vs Leesa
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Vs Leesa

Construction Helix Sleep Vs Leesa
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Vs Leesa
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Vs Leesa
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Vs Leesa
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
