Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Sheets
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Sheets

Construction Helix Sleep Sheets
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Sheets
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you could always have a look at the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Sheets
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Sheets
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
