Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Quiz
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Quiz

Construction Helix Sleep Quiz
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Quiz
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Quiz
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Quiz
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
