Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Order Status

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Order Status

Construction Helix Sleep Order Status

All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Order Status

Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.

Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.

Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.

Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those options sound right, you may always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Order Status

According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While buying a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Order Status

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
