Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review

Construction Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you may always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.

The pocketed coil unit should offer great edge support and motion transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped structure.
