Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Location
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Location

Construction Helix Sleep Location
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Location
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Location
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Location
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
