Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Linkedin
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Linkedin

Construction Helix Sleep Linkedin
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Linkedin
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options seem right, you can always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Linkedin
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Linkedin
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
