Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Instagram
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Instagram

Construction Helix Sleep Instagram
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Instagram
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Instagram
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Instagram
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
