Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Delivery

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep Delivery

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Delivery

Construction Helix Sleep Delivery

All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Delivery

Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.

Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you may always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Delivery

According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Delivery

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
