Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Corporate Office
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Corporate Office

Construction Helix Sleep Corporate Office
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Corporate Office
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Corporate Office
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
