Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Company
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Company

Construction Helix Sleep Company
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Company
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Company
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Company
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
