Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Chart
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Chart

Construction Helix Sleep Chart
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Chart
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Chart
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Chart
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
