Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Bloomberg
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Bloomberg

Construction Helix Sleep Bloomberg
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Bloomberg
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you could always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Bloomberg
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Bloomberg
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
