Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro

Construction Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Ben Shapiro
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
