Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Shoe Company
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Shoe Company

Construction Helix Shoe Company
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Shoe Company
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you could always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Shoe Company
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
