Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Shipping Issues
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Shipping Issues

Construction Helix Shipping Issues
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Shipping Issues
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Shipping Issues
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
