Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Reconditioning
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Reconditioning

Construction Helix Reconditioning
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Reconditioning
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Reconditioning
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Reconditioning
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
