Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Ratings
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Ratings

Construction Helix Ratings
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Ratings
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Ratings
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Ratings
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
