Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Pillows
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Pillows

Construction Helix Pillows
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Pillows
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Pillows
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Pillows
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
