Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Picture
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Picture

Construction Helix Picture
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Picture
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options seem right, you can always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Picture
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Picture
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Picture
If you’re shopping for a mattress and are not quite certain what feel that you require, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system may be the secret to finding your best sleep with minimal hassle. Their awesome system, which relies on expert sentiment and AI, was created to improve their client’s sleep by giving a better match. Helix Picture
The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should provide good edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
Hopefully, I have given you some notion of what the average sleeper can expect from this bed, but it does provide an impressive range of customization with an option for literally every particular desire or need. Your next best sleep could just be a short online quiz away.
