Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Order Status

Construction Helix Order Status
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Order Status
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Order Status
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
