Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Nightfall Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Nightfall Mattress

Construction Helix Nightfall Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Nightfall Mattress
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Nightfall Mattress
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Nightfall Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
