Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Negative Reviews
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Negative Reviews

Construction Helix Negative Reviews
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Negative Reviews
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Negative Reviews
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Negative Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Negative Reviews
If you’re shopping for a mattress and are not quite sure what feel that you need, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system may be the key to finding your best sleep with little hassle. The features of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
Hopefully, I’ve given you some idea of what the typical sleeper can expect from the Helix, but it truly does offer a sensational range of customization with a choice for literally every particular need or desire. Your next best sleep may just be a short online quiz away.
