Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Moving Bed Filter
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Moving Bed Filter

Construction Helix Moving Bed Filter
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Moving Bed Filter
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Moving Bed Filter
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
