Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Midnight Mattress Reviews
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Midnight Mattress Reviews

Construction Helix Midnight Mattress Reviews
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Midnight Mattress Reviews
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Midnight Mattress Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
