Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Microplush Mattress Pad Reviews
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Microplush Mattress Pad Reviews

Construction Helix Microplush Mattress Pad Reviews
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Microplush Mattress Pad Reviews
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Microplush Mattress Pad Reviews
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
