Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Memory Foam Review
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Memory Foam Review

Construction Helix Memory Foam Review
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Memory Foam Review
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Memory Foam Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Memory Foam Review
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.

The features of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to deliver choices whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should provide great edge support and movement transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped build.
