Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress

Construction Helix Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you could always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
