Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Worth It
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Worth It

Construction Helix Mattress Worth It
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Worth It
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Worth It
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Worth It
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
