Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Weight
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Weight

Construction Helix Mattress Weight
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Weight
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models sound right, you may always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Weight
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Weight
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
