Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Video
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Video

Construction Helix Mattress Video
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Video
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options seem right, you could always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Video
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Video
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
