Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Construction Helix Mattress Very Soft

All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Very Soft

Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.

Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these options seem right, you can always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Very Soft

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Warranty

Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.

Puffy is not just a mattress, it is a cloud you sleep on. With its optimized design for ultimate relaxation and 8x more air flow than standard memory foam mattress brands. This advanced technology allows for optimum cooling as well as perfect pressure relief. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Video Review

Keep on reading below for my complete review of the Puffy mattress.

Construction Helix Mattress Very Soft

The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Helix Mattress Very Soft

Helix Mattress Very Soft

Here are the details as listed on their website:

10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS

6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort

4″ Cooling Cloud FoamPuffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.

6″ Firm Core Support FoamExceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.

Parts:

Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.

Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has managed to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.

Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Firmness

We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any kind of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.

Pressure Map

One other important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.

To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

Puffy-Mattress-Pressure-Map

Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.

Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I’m not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.

Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.

To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.

FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).

Puffy-Motion-Transfer

These are really quite intriguing motion transfer outcomes. You’ll see a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.

Sinkage Test

While purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.

Puffy-Sinkage

6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.

What this tells me is that you are very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit tricky to change positionsHelix Mattress Very Soft

Edge Support

The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.

101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee

The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to be aware that you need to make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to completely adjust. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.

This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?

The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.

The foundation foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All this enables for your mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.

Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?

PROS

First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.

Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Helix Mattress Very Soft

And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing mattress.

CONS

While the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.

Additionally, it contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.

Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Helix Mattress Very Soft

The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that want to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dim gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Helix Mattress Very Soft

Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation which makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Helix Mattress Very Soft
