Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Twin 36X84

Construction Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Mattress Twin 36X84
