Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Stock

Construction Helix Mattress Stock
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Stock
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you may always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Stock
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
