Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Showroom
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Showroom

Construction Helix Mattress Showroom
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Showroom
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Showroom
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
