Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Review Amazon
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Review Amazon

Construction Helix Mattress Review Amazon
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Review Amazon
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you may always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Review Amazon
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Review Amazon
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
