Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Real Reviews

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual option provides a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Mattress Real Reviews

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Real Reviews

Construction Helix Mattress Real Reviews

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Real Reviews

Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those models sound quite right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Real Reviews

According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Real Reviews

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
