Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Questionnaire

Construction Helix Mattress Questionnaire
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models feel quite right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
