Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Protector
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Protector

Construction Helix Mattress Protector
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Protector
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Protector
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Protector
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
