Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Order Status
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Order Status

Construction Helix Mattress Order Status
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Order Status
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Order Status
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Order Status
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
