Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Luxe
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Luxe

Construction Helix Mattress Luxe
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Luxe
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Luxe
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Luxe
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
