Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Logo
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Logo

Construction Helix Mattress Logo
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Logo
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Logo
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Logo
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
